Tactical small-sided games: Developing players’ collaboration and problem-solving skills

Presented by Gareth Long – ACPE

AFL clubs strive to provide the perfect environment for kids to have fun learning through play, make new friends and create memories that last a lifetime.

In this workshop coaches will explore how tactical small-sided games (SSGs) can be designed and delivered to also develop players’ collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Designing SSGs that motivate and engage players and help them become ‘thinking players’ isn’t always easy. In this workshop you will be presented with some SSGs games, share great games from your own clubs, and possibly design some new ones! Either way you will leave with some great new games to try with your players.

Create an organised approach your coaching program by understanding the 4 quarters of the coaching cycle – Pre-season, In-Season, Post-season, Off-season. Throughout this session you will learn & discuss ways to increase team trust, run effective training & match-days, evaluate the season, and become aware of your own coaching performance gaps.

We look forward to you joining us for this important weekend in the football calendar!
