2019 Joss Community Facility Grant program now open
AFL NSW/ACT in partnership with the Joss Group are pleased to announce the opening of the 2019 Joss Group & AFL NSW/ACT Community Facility Grants. These grants have been designed to provide funding assistance to clubs who are looking to undertake small scale facility improvements to enhance their club environment for the 2020 AFL season and beyond.
In 2019, there will be 10 grants of $10,000 available to community clubs across New South Wales and the ACT. $5,000 will be provided by the Joss Group and $5,000 provided by the AFL.
Before a hiatus in 2018, the 2017 Joss Grant Program delivered $317,661 worth of projects across the state and territory ranging from oval surface upgrades, new electronic scoreboards and amenity upgrades. Without the support of the Joss Group the opportunity for these grants would not have been possible.
In 2019, the Joss Group & AFL NSW/ACT Community Facility Grants project is being supported by Sydney Swans ruckman Callum Sinclair. For the last twelve months, Sinclair has been completing an internship with AFL NSW/ACT in the Facilities and Infrastructure department as he begins to explore what life may look like post football.
“In my time interning with AFL NSW/ACT, I’ve really seen how important quality facilities and infrastructure are to footy communities across New South Wales and the ACT,” Sinclair said.
“Both throughout my years playing junior footy and now as a player for the Sydney Swans, it is clear there is a link between good facilities and attracting and retaining both players and volunteers.
“Thanks to the support from the Joss Group, the development of quality sporting infrastructure enables better pathways for success and creates the right environment for volunteers to better support their football clubs. In particular, the rapid rise of female participation in our sport puts the need for improved facilities at the top of every club’s agenda.
“I encourage all community clubs across New South Wales and the ACT to get involved in this important program.”
The Joss Group is a family owned regional company, who have been trading for over 35 years. For more information please visit www.jossgroup.com.au.
