AFL Sydney are pleased to introduce the AFL Future Leaders Community Program

The AFL Future Leaders Community Program is designed to support males and females aged 13 to 18 in the development of leadership skills that will help participants in the sporting environment (on and off field), within their family life, at school and in employment.

After successful implementation throughout the AFL North Coast competition in 2019, AFL NSW/ACT has adopted the training model and will be delivering the program for AFL Sydney Harbour and Western Sydney participants.

This year’s program will be split into two groups with each group undertaking a four (4) hour face to face workshop. Before attending the face to face workshops, participants will undertake a two-hour online module.

1. ASPIRING LEADERS (13 to 15-year olds)
   Participants will be introduced to the principles of leadership in a practical environment and will start to build their knowledge and skill base to use both inside and outside of AFL.
2. EMERGING LEADERS (16 to 18-year olds)
   Participants will have their pre-existing leadership skills further extended to be able to apply to a range of situations and contexts both inside and outside of AFL.

Workshops will be conducted at the following venues:

• Sydney Harbour – AFL House, Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park – Saturday 18 April 2020
• Western Sydney – Blacktown International Sportspark – Sunday 19 April 2020

Once the season gets underway participants will be expected to take on a leadership role within the sport to put the skills learnt into practice. These roles may include umpiring, coaching, and/or helping with Auskick. Note: Players don’t have to be in a current leadership role within their footy team to be eligible to be considered.

To nominate for the program individuals must be born in 2002 to 2007 (inclusive), available to undertake the relevant face to face workshop on 18^th OR 19^th April and complete the below form by Friday 20^th March. Individuals will be advised the outcome of their nomination by Friday 27^th March.

How do I nominate?
Simply complete the online form below. Nominations must be completed by Friday 20 March.

How will selections be made?
AFL NSW/ACT staff will invite a maximum of 20 participants (per workshop) into the program.

When will I know if I’ve been selected?
All nominees will be advised whether they’ve been selected or not by Friday 27^th March.
