Volunteer in the Spotlight: Tammy Callaghan
Tammy Callaghan is our next Volunteer in the Spotlight.
Club: East Sydney Bulldogs
Years Volunteering: I have been volunteering for 8 years across different roles in the club and also the Regional Committee
Duties: Vice President, Committee Member, Youth Team Coach, Girls Coordinator
About Tammy: Tammy commenced volunteering with the Bulldogs in 2012 when one of her three children started to play AFL in the NAB AFL Auskick program. Tammy put her hand up to be a coach for the Under 5’s, knowing very little about AFL but realising that you need to contribute to make these types of volunteer based sporting clubs a success.
Since 2012 Tammy has coached teams every year and plays an active role in the development and growth of the club. Tammy also co-leads monthly Club committee meetings with 12 other committee members to determine the strategy and management of the club for future growth.
Over the past three years one of Tammy’s key volunteer work with the Club has been the introduction of a Girls Only competition. Tammy co-ordinated and led marketing strategies to bring girls into the Club to secure team numbers that will ensure they could field a team.
Tammy’s committment to the growth of youth girls in 2017 Tammy joined the AFL Sydney Juniors Regional Committee (run by AFL NSW/ACT) as Football Manager of Youth Girls and continues to be an advisor in this role for 2019.
