Southern Power Youth Girls Raising Money for Bay Babes

Southern Power Youth Girls were busy recently celebrating the strong women in their lives as well as supporting a local worthy charity. Please see the below story written by the club –

Mother’s Day is always a special home round for Southern Power Youth Girls at Lincoln Oval, Sutherland.  This is the only round during the year where all three Southern Power Youth girls teams get to play at the same ground together.

The mums (and grandmothers) attending last Sunday were spoilt with a rose given to each prior to each game followed by a delicious afternoon tea prepared by the volunteers at the club.  Mountains of muffins, cookies, meringue, and assortment of other treats were very tempting to all.

The event is also used as an event to raise money for a local charity.  This year, the chosen charity was Bay Babes.  Bay Babes is a wonderful organization helping spread the awareness of Breast Cancer and supports women and their families when they are diagnosed in our local community.  It also raises money for local oncologists to help improve treatment practices and outcomes for women both now and in the future.

Southern Power are pleased to announce $1,000 being raised to be donated to Bay Babes so they can continue the good work they do in our community.

We hope all visiting clubs who attended enjoyed the festivities and looking forward to 2022.

We also would like to thank AFL Sydney, Bunnings and parents of the club for making donations to our raffle.

This event could not be done without the effort of the club’s volunteers.  We thank you.

A special thank you to Sharon McGavigan in orchestrating the event.   Sharon’s contribution to the Youth Girls of the community is enormous.  We are very lucky to have her being part of the club.
