Volunteer of the Year Award nominations open
The AFL Volunteer of the Year Program is a volunteer recognition program which commenced as part of the Australian Football 150 years celebration rewarding outstanding volunteers who have given notable voluntary service to Australian Football.
All leagues and clubs are invited to nominate any outstanding volunteers for one the AFL NSW/ACT Volunteer of the Year across any of the following categories:
- – AFL NSW/ACT Community Football Volunteer
- – AFL NSW/ACT Disability Inclusion Volunteer
- – AFL NSW/ACT Junior Coach
- – AFL NSW/ACT Senior Coach
The volunteer may have contributed to the completion of a major or significant project throughout the year or they may be someone who has contributed in a number of roles over a long period.
Each State and Territory will evaluate the nominations and ultimately will determine their State/Territory Volunteer of the Year in each of the above nominated award categories.

Nomination Process
AFL NSW/ACT encourages each club to nominate one volunteer for each volunteer category.
Following the nominations process, each League will evaluate the nominations received within their region and will determine their League’s winner for the category.
AFL NSW/ACT will then evaluate each League Volunteer category recipient and determine the final AFL NSW/ACT Volunteer Category Award winners.
Nominations closing date:
- – Nominations must be submitted online by Monday, July 15, 2019
- – Late submissions will not be considered
PRIZES
The overall winner (which could be from any category listed above) will win themselves:
- – Tickets to the 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final (GFAFL19/76) for the State/Territory Volunteer of the Year + guest
- – Return flights (except Victoria) for the State/Territory Volunteer of the Year + guest
- – Accommodation for 3 nights (Thurs – Sat) in Melbourne for 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final weekend
- – The opportunity to walk in the 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade for the State/Territory Volunteer only
- – Pre-and-post 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final functions for the State/Territory Volunteer of the Year + guest
AFL NSW/ACT Community Football Volunteer prizes include:
- – Every nominated club administrator volunteer will receive a certificate and a Club Volunteer of the Year jumper.
- – All League Volunteer of the Year winners will receive a certificate and a $200 gift card, an engraved plaque and a nomination for the AFL NSW/ACT Community Football Volunteer of the Year award
AFL NSW/ACT Merit Award winner prize
- – All nominated Merit Award nominees will receive a certificate and a Merit Award Jumper
- – League Merit Award winners will receive a $200 gift card and plaque
- – The 2 x AFL NSW/ACT Merit Award winners will receive a certificate and their name included on the AFL website.
AFL NSW/ACT Volunteer Category Award winner prize
- – Invitation to the Toyota Good for Footy AFL National Volunteer Awards held in Melbourne during May 2020 for the State/Territory Volunteer Award winners of each category + guest
- – Return flights (Except Victoria) for the State/Territory Volunteer Award winners of each category + guest
- – Accommodation in Melbourne for 2 nights
National Volunteer Category Award winner prize
- – Tickets to the 2020 Toyota AFL Grand Final (GFAFL19/76) for the AFL National Volunteer Award winners of each category + guest
- – Return flights (except Victoria) for the AFL National Volunteer Award winners of each category + guest
- – Accommodation for 3 nights (Thurs – Sat) in Melbourne for 2020 Toyota AFL Grand Final weekend
- – The opportunity to walk in the 2020 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade
