Knox Grammar vs St Aloysius College 

This week’s match of the Round between Knox Grammar and St Aloysius College was played at North Narrabeen Reserve. It is the second time this season these teams have met and Knox was looking to make it 2 from 2. Knox started strong in the first quarter, there zone defence made it very hard for St Aloysius to move the ball past halfway. Knox went into the quarter time break leading 2.6.18 to 0.0.0. Knox came out strong in the second quarter with gun full forward Jack Harty kicking 2 early goals. However, St Aloysius responded with their midfield pressure created by number 14 Loui, leading to multiple opportunities inside their forward 50. Knox pulled away to win 80 to 14 when the Mercy Rule came into effect. Edward Ogilvy was best on ground with his excellent ball use from the midfield with Jack Harty and Will Blackburn picking up the other votes. 

 

Final Score: Knox Grammar 12.8.80 defeated St Aloysius 2.2.14 

 

Trinity Grammar vs SHORE School 

It was very good conditions for footy on Saturday at ELS Hall which is where the Division 2 Match of the Round between Trinity and Shore was held. Trinity started the game strong having multiple forward entries and causing plenty of turn overs with their tackling pressure. They went into the quarter time break with a 16 to 2 lead. SHORE came out in the 2nd quarter strong and kicked goals within the first 5 minutes to take the lead, this was led by Alexei Stewart who kicked 3 out of the 6 2nd quarter goals. SHORE lead at half time 6.4.40 to Trinity 2.4.16. Trinity responded having a much better third quarter. They found their tackling pressure again which resulted in creating multiple opportunities in the forward 50. Going into the last quarter it was SHORE 6.6.42 to Trinity 4.8.32. The start of the fourth saw Trinity’s pressure create plenty of opportunities, but they just couldn’t convert in front of goal. Trinity kicked a goal halfway into the 4th to make it a 1-point game. SHORE midfielder Will Edwards kicked the winning goal to see SHORE win by 8 points. Matt Derbridge was outstanding in the backline for SHORE which saw him get Best on Ground for the Match. Trinity’s Sam Sparling was next best with his outstanding pressure playing through the forward/midfield. 

 

Final Score: SHORE School 7.8.50 defeated Trinity Grammar 5.11.41
